the forgotten ones

You see them on the street everyday
Rarely do you listen to what they say
Because they are as dirt in your mind
Something that should be left far behind

Do you ever stop to think about why
Someone is on the streets where they may die
What was their life like before this?
A part of history or did something you miss

These are the homeless of our streets and towns
Some of them are loud while others make no sounds
Still they once had a life and just like you
Want to be considered a person too

Though you may not know any of them personally
You might be surprised at their wisdom generally
Yes they are someone’s daughters and sons
These homeless at times the forgotten ones
